Debate Commission: The Utah Debate Commission, founded in 2013, is an independent, nonpartisan consortium of higher education institutions, media organizations, and business and civic leaders dedicated to creating a system of public debates to educate and inform the citizens of Utah.
As such, we are looked to by other states as an outstanding example of civic engagement; we are one of only four debate commissions of this kind in the United States.

Gun deaths and overdose deaths rise amid pandemic
Overdose deaths 107k the provisional 2021 total translates to roughly one U.S. overdose death every 5 minutes. It marked a 15% increase from the previous record, set the year before.
Gun deaths jumped by 35% in 2020, a 25-year high. The CDC is prescribing outreach workers. The agency says there needs to be more housing assistance, childcare subsidies, tax credits, and green spaces.
